THE SPOT

Bonaire

Bonaire is a flat-water paradise in the Dutch Caribbean. Steady 10–20 knot trade winds, warm turquoise water and the shallow Sorobon lagoon make it one of the best places on earth to learn, progress and ride freestyle. Step off the beach into waist-deep flat water, or head outside the bay for speed runs and the odd bump-and-jump.

“Blisters from all the windsurfing are healing nicely. Just having this (for others) annoying smile on my face… even now when I'm writing this. One of my best windsurfing trips I ever had 🤩”

“This was a first for me and getting to know Nico, Lars, Dennis and Alacati was a really magical moment at the top of my 48 years! I recommend this experience to anyone in any level because you will learn a lot of new tips and techniques for sure, will be in the water with pros and drones watching you closely focused on your evolution; and you will have a blast off the water meeting exciting new people, a so nice crew and an awesome vibe! I brought my wife that doesn't windsurf along and she loved the spot, the vibe with everyone and the sun. Go and don't regret a thing! Tks and congrats to Nico and the whole team!”

“This was my 4th NP7 Experience and also this time it was fabulous again. It’s remarkable to pickup new aspects each time from the theory, the video analysis and for example the sail rigging and tuning. Again great team, nice atmosphere and a pleasant location to be!”

“NP7 Experience Alaçati gets top top ratings, from start to finish. The whole experience was incredible! Everything (from hotels, transfers, special requests, etc.) was smooth, stress-free and very well organised. The group clicked instantly and there was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with lots of laughter (on and off the water). The coaching was top notch - personalized, video analysis + drone footage, theory, technique, and Nico sailing right behind you when you're on the water to analyze every detail of your technique - it was simply outstanding. All the video and photos captured all the wonderful memories. I didn't expect Alaçati to be such a gem - it's a great place to bring partner/family/kids whether they want to join the experience or not. I loved everything about the place, from the accommodation, the food, the evenings out and, of course, the cats of Alaçati. I don't think I'e had this much fun in a while!”

“It was my first NP7 Experience and for sure not my last one! The organisation was professional and I felt very well taken care of throughout the entire process, from booking until arrival and also during the entire week. Pick-up, shuttle transportation, drop-off and all other arrangements in between including the hotel and also the lunch and dinner arrangements were organised perfectly! Everything worked like clockwork. The vibe among all of us participants was amazing and it almost felt like a surftrip with friends....and I must say, many of us really did become friends during this week in Alacati. The only sad thing was that there was only wind on 2 days, which is of course nobody's fault, but it had the result that there was not enough video footage from all of us that could be analysed properly to see the progress over these 2 days. But nevertheless, I have learned so much and Nico was able to discover 3 crucial mistakes in my jibes, that I could work on, and after I returned, I got another chance to practice at my home spot in Austria with the amazing result, that I have definately improved my jibes so significantly now, that I have to say: it's a miracle what Nico acheived in just 2 days on the water and the feedback session on land. I am so greatful and I can absolutely and 100% recommend this experience to every windsurfer who wants to finally crack his own plateau or who wants to improve his skills! Hope to be part of it again soon! Mike”

“The setup, coaches and the total experience was just so much more than expected. You guys are just so humble and service minded. Only ”problem” I would say was the setup of gear and quality. Slippery boards and ASPC team couldn’t have been better. Just to move foot straps the was no good tools and a powertool is quite cheap for them to have.”

“Great experience at NP7 Alaçatı. Nico Prien is not only an outstanding professional and coach, but also a genuinely great person. The spot in Alaçatı is perfect for windsurfing, even though we were a little unlucky with the wind during our week. Even on the lighter-wind days, the time was never wasted: we worked on theory, movement repetitions to improve technique before getting back on the water. The surf center is very well organized, with excellent equipment and logistics. Everything is easy and professionally managed from start to finish. Highly recommended — not only for advanced riders, but also for anyone who wants to improve, whatever their level. I’ll definitely be back!”

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered

  • Bonaire has steady trade winds, typically 10 to 20 knots. Wind cannot be guaranteed. On a light-wind day we switch to technique theory, video analysis or a yacht trip along the coast.
  • Yes. Lac Bay at Sorobon is waist-deep and flat almost everywhere, with a sandy beach entry, so you can stand up wherever you fall. Beginner packages include your own beginner coach all week and rental gear.
  • Book Beginner if you have never windsurfed or had only a few lessons. You learn to get going, steer and use the harness. Book Advanced if you have the basics and want to work on planing, footstraps and the power jibe, with the NP7 head coach all week.
  • Every package includes coaching all week at your level, rental gear at Jibe City, lunch together every day, island activities and trips, and an NP7 shirt and lycra to keep. Hotel packages add 6 nights at Sorobon Beach Resort or Boutique Hotel Wanapa, with breakfast: at Sorobon for two people per room, at Wanapa for one. Advanced packages also include video analysis; beginner packages do not. You also get the NP7 member area with your week's photos and videos, trip documents and progress tracker.
  • Flights to Bonaire (airport BON), the airport transfer (we can arrange one for you) and dinners. Bonaire charges every visitor a 75 USD entry tax. Everyone who goes in the water also needs the STINAPA nature fee of 40 USD (free under 13). You pay both yourself, and your trip page has the links.
  • You choose Sorobon Beach Resort, Boutique Hotel Wanapa, or a package without a hotel. Sorobon is right on Lac Bay, with studios and beach houses steps from the water. Wanapa is just outside Kralendijk and takes guests aged 14 and over.
  • No. You always get your own room and never share it with another guest.
  • Rental gear at Jibe City is included in every package. On Advanced packages you can choose Own gear + storage at Jibe City, or Own gear, when you book, and your price goes down. You can bring your own harness and wetsuit, or Jibe City can provide both.
  • Yes, on hotel packages, if the hotel has space. Ask us after booking. Once your room is assigned, you can also request extra nights under Request extras on your trip page.
  • A passport valid for your whole stay. To be safe, have at least 6 months left on it when you land. EU, EEA, Swiss, UK, US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand passports need no visa for our weeks. Any other passport: check the visa rules early, since a visa takes time. Flying via the US? Unless you are American or Canadian, you need an approved ESTA or a US visa, even for a short layover.
  • Signing up is free and there is no deposit. Within 14 days you pay a 50% down-payment, which secures your spot. The balance is due 90 days before the trip. If you book within 90 days of the trip, you pay the full price in one payment instead. You pay by bank transfer. If you live outside the EU and UK, you can also pay by card, with an added card fee.
  • Yes. Tap "Booking for more than one person?" when you book and add up to 6 people. Each picks their own package and gets their own trip page, and you pay for everyone. You can add a child without their own email from your trip page ("Bring someone along") before you pay. You then sign their waiver as parent or guardian.
  • Until you pay, cancelling costs nothing. Once you pay the 50% down-payment, it is the cancellation fee. Once you pay the full price, including a late booking made within 90 days of the trip, the full price is the fee. Instead of cancelling, you can pass your place to someone else. If unavoidable, extraordinary events at the destination seriously affect the trip, you can cancel free of charge.
