Each bar: how often it blew between 9:00 and 18:00 in that month, counted over about 3.5 years of weather records for Las Cucharas. Not a wind meter on the beach: where hills or a gap speed the wind up (Canaries, Tarifa), it often blows more than this shows.

It's the forecast model. In any wind app (Windguru, Windy…) you can pick which one to show. Not sure? GFS is the safe global default; the high-res ones (ICON-D2, AROME…) are sharper at coastal & thermal spots.

Los Charcos
Tested by NP7: we've been here · Expert-Pro · Big waves (2 m+)
A Costa Teguise wave spot that needs big waves in the forecast to work, and close to the big jetty it can get really tricky.

A very soft beach break in Costa Teguise and a good place to get into wave sailing, with more consistent wind than Los Charcos next door.
Las Cucharas is a sandy beach in Costa Teguise, right next to Los Charcos. You can launch from the sand next to the rock groyne at the north-east end of the beach. The break is very soft. The waves just slightly break and are not too gnarly, which makes it a good spot to get into wave sailing. On a small day it is fairly flat on the inside, with small ramps to jump further out, and the waves can also get quite big. The wind here is more consistent than at Los Charcos and Jameos del Agua. The flip side of the soft waves is that they give you little projection to jump and don't really hold up for riding, so experienced wave sailors may miss a wave that holds up properly.

A Costa Teguise wave spot that needs big waves in the forecast to work, and close to the big jetty it can get really tricky.
Los Charcos is the cove by the Playa de los Charcos car park in Costa Teguise, right next to Las Cucharas. Two breakwaters partly close off the cove, and the shore around it is rocky. It needs big waves in the forecast to work, and it is not so good for jumping, because there is little wind right in the breaking zone. On a big day the conditions close to the big jetty can get really tricky. If it is not working, Las Cucharas next door has a very soft break and more consistent wind.
