Each bar: how often it blew between 9:00 and 18:00 in that month, counted over about 3.5 years of weather records for this area. Not a wind meter on the beach: where hills or a gap speed the wind up (Canaries, Tarifa), it often blows more than this shows.

It's the forecast model. In any wind app (Windguru, Windy…) you can pick which one to show. Not sure? GFS is the safe global default; the high-res ones (ICON-D2, AROME…) are sharper at coastal & thermal spots.

Surfcenter's home spot on the Schildmeer: lots of grass to rig on, lessons on site, flat on light days and choppy when it blows.
The Schildmeer is a 284 ha lake on the edge of Steendam in Groningen, about 1.5 m deep with a sandy bottom. On light days the water is flat, perfect to learn and practise on. When it really blows, the lake gets properly choppy. The wind comes in over open farmland and can be gusty, so take a bit more sail on the light days. This is the shop's own spot: you rig on a big, grassy area right next to Surfcenter, and lessons are booked through Surfcenter.
